My name is Ben Moore, and I’m a professional freelance photographer.

I’ve been engaged in photography for over thirteen years. I started soon after having my first child as I wanted to record all the moments, and this sparked an idea to buy a half-decent camera, which opened the floodgates of photography.

I wanted to know how to take better photos, so I took it more seriously. I had the bug!

Looking at my gear now compared to when I started with just a Nikon D3000 body and a lens reminds me how I have grown and developed.

Your gear says a lot about how you like to work, and it’s a bit of an extension of your personality.

Good gear is essential, but you can always find hacks or a cheaper alternative. It depends on how hard you want to create that content and how much effort you will put into getting those results.

I feel photography hasn’t improved due to gear; however, it makes getting the same results more effortless.

I have been using Nikon cameras since I started photography, and as my photography improved, so did my cameras.

I am now a Nikon Creator, similar to an ambassador, with my cameras of choice being the Nikon Z8 and the Nikon Z9.

I have always been impressed with the files from Nikon cameras. The dynamic range is impressive, and I’ve never had a significant problem with their cameras, which has made me not want to change or try other brands.

I shoot with the Nikon Z8 because it’s a pocket-sized mirrorless all-rounder to its big brother, the Nikon Z9, and that camera is simply mind-blowing!

My loyalty to the Nikon brand has undoubtedly paid off over the years.

My favourite lens to shoot with is the NIKON NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S  as I love how it keeps the corners straight and is great for architecture.

The focus distance is just right, and I think anything wider than fourteen millimetres is too broad. It’s the perfect focal distance for how I like to shoot.

I use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to edit all my photos. I grew up using this software and have my own presets, which has become my style. This has evolved over the years, and I’m still fine-tuning it to this day

Below is a complete list of my photography gear:
